{"id":980,"date":"2006-06-22T00:32:00","date_gmt":"2006-06-22T04:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=980"},"modified":"2006-06-22T00:32:00","modified_gmt":"2006-06-22T04:32:00","slug":"rona-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=980","title":{"rendered":"Rona Lives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of people are saying the Liberals lacked guts with their abstention on the NDP motion calling for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20060621.wambro0621\/BNStory\/National\/home\">Rona Ambrose to resign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I find a motion asking for a Cabinet Minister to resign because of five months of inaction and dithering pretty asinine. If any Cabinet Minister who was perceived as being incompetent was forced to resign, we&#8217;d have so many Cabinet shuffles that even Myron Thompson would find his way into the Privy Council before long. And if any Environment Minister who didn&#8217;t force Canada to live up to its Kyoto commitments resigned, the Liberals would have lost quite a few of them as well.<\/p>\n<p>The entire concept of passing a motion like this is, quite frankly, a waste of parliamentarians&#8217; time and I think John Godfrey and the Liberals made the right call by abstaining.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of people are saying the Liberals lacked guts with their abstention on the NDP motion calling for Rona Ambrose to resign.
