Remember how Jack Layton told everyone to &#8220;elect more NDP MPs&#8221;? Remember how he promised this would create &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.ca\/search?hl=en&#038;q=%22results+for+people%22+%22jack+layton%22&amp;meta=\">results for people<\/a>&#8220;?<\/p>\n<p>One hundred days in, let&#8217;s take a look at the results Jack has generated. Since, as a Liberal, I might be somewhat partisan, I&#8217;ll let a completely unbiased person judge the results for people achieved by this government. This completely unbiased person will be&#8230;Jack Layton.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Results for People<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. A &#8220;made in the Oil Patch&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndp.ca\/page\/3694\">environmental program <\/a>which has killed Kyoto and &#8220;abandoned the environment&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>2. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndp.ca\/page\/3692\">Nothing <\/a>to create a National Child Care program.<\/p>\n<p>3. &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndp.ca\/page\/3692\">Nothing for EI, precious little for training<\/a>.&#8221; In short, Canadians have been given &#8220;a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltvnews.com\/viewarticle.php?id=6383\">lost opportunity<\/a> for working families&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>4. A budget with &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/20060502\/budget_response_060502\/20060502?s_name=budget2006&#038;no_ads=\">nothing <\/a>for post-secondary education&#8221;. This country will be full of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndp.ca\/page\/3692\">empty libraries <\/a>because students won&#8217;t be able to afford to use them&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>5. An &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/NASApp\/cs\/ContentServer?pagename=thestar\/Layout\/Article_Type1&amp;amp;amp;amp;c=Article&#038;cid=1146520227026&amp;call_pageid=968332188774&#038;col=968350116467\">arrogant and rigid<\/a>&#8221; approach to Canada-US relations, leading to a &#8220;rather dramatic extension of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/NASApp\/cs\/ContentServer?pagename=thestar\/Layout\/Article_Type1&amp;amp;amp;c=Article&#038;cid=1146520227026&amp;call_pageid=968332188774&#038;col=968350116467\">military integration <\/a>with the United States&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>6. Massive corporate tax cuts; &#8220;an <a href=\"http:\/\/ottsun.canoe.ca\/News\/National\/2006\/05\/03\/1561621-sun.html\">imprudent action <\/a>that takes us closer to a deficit&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d say the Liberal TV ads meant to appeal to NDP voters next election are going to write themselves. Or, more precisely, Jack Layton is currently writing them.<\/p>\n<p>And if he can&#8217;t talk about &#8220;results for people&#8221; or name drop &#8220;Ed Broadbent&#8221; eight times a day, Jack&#8217;s going to need a new pitch to keep the Liberal votes he &#8220;borrowed&#8221; last time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remember last election?
