{"id":771,"date":"2006-02-06T15:16:00","date_gmt":"2006-02-06T20:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=771"},"modified":"2006-02-06T15:16:00","modified_gmt":"2006-02-06T20:16:00","slug":"nice-comfy-welcome-mat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=771","title":{"rendered":"Nice Comfy Welcome Mat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must say, I&#8217;m very curious what the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/1116347413338_5\/?hub=TopStories\">following Conservatives <\/a>have to say about David Emerson&#8217;s defection today:<\/p>\n<p>James Moore:<br \/><em>&#8220;I think it shows there are two kinds of people in public life &#8212; people with principle and people like Belinda Stronach,&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pierre Poilievre:<br \/><em>&#8220;It has everything to do with the fact she was offered a plum job and Paul Martin is offering every bribe he can to cling on to power,&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tony Abbott:<br \/><em>&#8220;To me, what it is, it&#8217;s a little rich girl basically whoring herself out to the Liberals,&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bob Runciman:<br \/><em>&#8220;I think she sort of defined herself as something of a dipstick &#8212; an attractive one, but still a dipstick &#8212; with what she&#8217;s done here today,&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dave Hancock:<br \/><em>&#8220;It&#8217;s appalling,&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bernard Lord:<br \/><em>&#8220;This is just another action, another moment, that breeds cynicism of electors,&#8221;<\/em><br \/><em><\/em><br \/><em><\/em><br \/><strong><em>UPDATE:<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/ahabswhale.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/harpers-worst-enemy.html\">Ahab&#8217;s Whale <\/a>has this gem from Emerson, on election night:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family:times new roman;\">&#8220;I&#8217;m going to be Stephen Harper&#8217;s worst enemy,&#8221; he warned. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to stir the pot and you better believe we are going to make a heck of a lot of noise.&#8221;<\/span> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, he&#8217;s certainly stirring the pot and making noise.
