Despite the extra media attention, this year&#8217;s fashion round-up is a rather tame affair. When you get the truly horrible photo ops is during leadership races when Bay Street Liberals and Annex Socialists venture west for the first time. That placed a lot of pressure on her, especially since Ed Stelmach called it the &#8220;Alberta Stampede&#8221; and looked completely out of place during his first Stampede as Premier.<\/p>\n<p>Notley&#8230;well she rode a friggin&#8217; horse. Anyone who rides a horse is deemed to have won at Stampeding. It&#8217;s that simple.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/notley.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/notley-260x300.jpg\" alt=\"notley\" width=\"260\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-49953\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/notley-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/notley.jpg 446w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As for what&#8217;s left of the Alberta PCs? After losing <em>two <\/em>nominations and being told &#8220;thanks but no thanks&#8221; in his bid to run for the most right wing party in Canada, this will mark Rob Anders&#8217; final Stampede as an elected member of Parliament in Calgary. Luckily, Rob took it in stride and was still smiling.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/anders.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/anders.jpg\" alt=\"anders\" width=\"235\" height=\"222\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49954\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>SUPER IMPORTANT VERY URGENT UPDATE:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>No sooner had I posted this round-up, than Rachel Notley did the unthinkable, and was <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalpost.com\/news\/canada\/face-palm-notley-wore-cowboy-hat-backwards-meeting-harper-and-the-internet-wont-let-her-forget-it\">caught wearing her cowboy hat backwards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/harper_notley3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/harper_notley3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"harper notley3.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50030\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/harper_notley3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/harper_notley3.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As discussed above, a Premier&#8217;s first Stampede is a dangerous place.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Notley gets credit for riding a horse and not grimacing like she was trapped in some kind of hillbilly horror show.
