Five companies (<a href=\"http:\/\/calgary.ctv.ca\/servlet\/an\/local\/CTVNews\/20120223\/CGY_poll_think_120223\/20120223\/?hub=CalgaryHome\">ThinkHQ<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalpost.com\/2012\/02\/16\/albertas-wildrose-gaining-support-while-pcs-flag-new-survey-suggests\/\">Forum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/return-on-insight.ca\/viewer?a=v&amp;pid=sites&amp;srcid=cmV0dXJuLW9uLWluc2lnaHQuY2F8cHVibGljfGd4OjZkNTBmYTcyZmEzZjIyOWE\">ROI<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/abacusdata.ca\/2012\/03\/13\/alberta-politics-pcs-lead-wildrose-by-5\/\">Abacus<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legermarketing.com\/admin\/upload\/publi_pdf\/Alberta_Provincial_Voting_2012_EN.pdf\">Leger<\/a>) have released polls in 2012, with the following ranges for each party:<\/p>\n<p><strong>PCs<\/strong>: 34% to 53%<br \/><strong>Wildrose<\/strong>: 16% to 30%<br \/><strong>Liberals<\/strong>: 11% to 18%<br \/><strong>NDP<\/strong>: 13% to 14%<\/p>\n<p>The PC lead is somewhere between 5 points and 37 points, plus or minus a few percent on the margin of error. Sure, we know where the NDP are at, but everything else is a crapshot.<\/p>\n<p>Which shouldn&#8217;t be surprising given the three other parties all enter this campaign with rookie leaders. Voters have likely heard of Danielle Smith and know Alison Redford is the Premier, but that&#8217;s about all they know.<\/p>\n<p>Toss in the fact that the second place party has basically risen from nothingness over the last two years, and you have the makings of a very unpredictable election, in a province which rarely sees unpredictable election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The expectation in Alberta is that Alison Redford&#8217;s first budget will pass by March 21, with the writ dropped March 26 for an April 23 vote.
