{"id":3128,"date":"2011-09-03T14:36:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-03T18:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=3128"},"modified":"2011-09-03T14:36:00","modified_gmt":"2011-09-03T18:36:00","slug":"and-on-the-7th-day-mulcair-gave-media-interviews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=3128","title":{"rendered":"And on the 7th day, Mulcair gave media interviews"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Thomas Mulcair has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/business\/Delay%2Bleadership%2Brace%2Brunning%2BMulcair\/5346401\/story.html\">broken<\/a> his silence and made it clear he will not run for his party&#8217;s leadership, unless they select a timeline to his liking:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">OTTAWA \u2014 Thomas Mulcair says he won&#8217;t run for the leadership of the NDP unless the party agrees to hold its convention in late winter or early spring, because he wouldn&#8217;t be able to compete in a short race.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If what some people seemed to be angling for, which was January, if that ever came to pass, you know, I&#8217;d just continue working very hard to do the best we could, but I would never be part of something where there wouldn&#8217;t be a level playing field,&#8221; he said Friday.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This would be a huge blow to the NDP, given how popular Mulcair is in caucus. Why, just listen to some of the things NDP MPs have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/politics\/ndp-firebrand-toots-his-own-horn\/article2152741\/\">said<\/a> about him:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019ve got great, great support among the Quebec caucus.
