{"id":3069,"date":"2011-06-10T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=3069"},"modified":"2011-06-10T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-10T15:00:00","slug":"this-week-in-alberta-jumping-the-queue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calgarygrit.ca\/?p=3069","title":{"rendered":"This Week in Alberta &#8211; Jumping the Queue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen Duckett (AKA <a href=\"http:\/\/daveberta.ca\/2010\/11\/duckett-im-eating-my-cookie\/\">Cookie Monster<\/a>) has raised a stir by suggesting some politically connected individuals receive preferential treatment in Alberta&#8217;s Health Care system, and are able to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/edmonton\/story\/2011\/06\/06\/calgary-alberta-tory-health-duckett.html\">jump the queue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The PCs have generally shrugged this one off, like most accusations against their government, but there has been one notable exception &#8211; leadership candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/daveberta.ca\/2011\/06\/alison-redford-distancing-herself-from-premier-stelmach\/\">Allison Redford<\/a>, who has joined the call of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertaliberalcaucus.com\/index.php\/site\/News_story\/queue_jumping_allegations_remind_albertans_of_the_need_for_a_health_care_pu\">opposition parties<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calgaryherald.com\/health\/Jumping+health+queue\/4910050\/story.html\">editorials<\/a> for a public inquiry.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>ALSO IN THE NEWS&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Alberta Liberals signed up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertaliberal.com\/media\/releases\/20110608%20-%20Alberta%20Liberals%20Announces%201000%20Registered%20Supporters%20in%20First%207%20Days.pdf\">1,000 new supporters<\/a> in the first week of their new open primary style <a href=\"http:\/\/calgarygrit.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/real-renewal.html\">membership system<\/a>. And now, Alf Apps is talking about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/politics\/apps-urges-liberals-to-become-the-party-of-the-people-again\/article2054748\/\">federal Liberals<\/a> doing the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Ed Stelmach <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angus-reid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2011.06.07_Premiers_CAN.pdf\">remains unpopular<\/a>.
