No doubt, the province will be in a testy mood following the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Canucks&#8217;<\/span> elimination last night, so the real question is who they&#8217;ll take their anger out on.<\/p>\n<p>Had I been living in BC four years ago, I probably would have voted for the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">NDP<\/span> and against <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">STV<\/span>. This time around, I&#8217;d flip both those votes. I&#8217;m not familiar on all the local issues, but it does seem clear that a Liberal defeat would scare any government away from carbon pricing for at least a decade. As for <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\">STV<\/span>, I&#8217;m not as fanatical about electoral reform as some <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\">bloggers<\/span> out there, but the system preserves the accountability of <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\">FPTP<\/span>, so I don&#8217;t see any harm in <a href=\"http:\/\/calgarygrit.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/stv.html\">giving it a try<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While looking at the polls in a province with a reputation for wild politics like BC might be fool-hardy, here&#8217;s what the pollsters are saying:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.news1130.com\/news\/local\/more.jsp?content=20090509_133608_968\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\">Ipsos<\/span><\/a><\/strong><br \/>Lib  47%<br \/><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_8\">NDP<\/span>  39%<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/LAC.20090509.BCELECTIONPOLL09ART2109\/TPStory\/National\">Innovative<\/a><\/strong><br \/>Lib  46%<br \/><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_9\">NDP<\/span>  37%<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/bcvotes2009\/story\/2009\/05\/08\/bc-angus-reid-election-poll.html\">Angus Reid<\/a><\/strong><br \/>Lib  44%<br \/><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_10\">NDP<\/span>  42%<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/bcvotes2009\/story\/2009\/05\/07\/bc-election-mustel-poll.html\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_11\">Mustel<\/span><\/a><\/strong><br \/>Lib  47%<br \/><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_12\">NDP<\/span>  38%<\/p>\n<p>Average it all out, and you&#8217;re looking at a very similar map to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Columbia_general_election,_2005\">2005<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight, British Columbians head to the polls, looking to give Gordon Campbell a third straight majority.
