I&#8217;ll give Harper a pass on this one, since this appointment probably had to be made before January for the court to function properly &#8211; and Cromwell&#8217;s frequent appearances on the Tudors is as good as a public consultation.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> <\/em>Upon closer inspection, two other things stand out from these appointments.<\/p>\n<p>1. 4 out of the 18 are women. This is completely <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">unacceptable<\/span>, when you consider that one of the reasons <em>for<\/em> appointing, rather than electing, people to <u>any<\/u> position is that it allows for a more balanced representation.<\/p>\n<p>2. Remember how Harper spent the past month talking about how the separatists weren&#8217;t legitimate, blah, blah, blah? Well, one of the picks &#8211; Michel <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Rivard<\/span> &#8211; spent the 1995 Referendum sitting as a <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">PQ<\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">MNA<\/span> campaigning for the <em><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\">oui<\/span><\/em> side.
