The yet-to-be-named coalition seems poised to bring on Paul Martin, John Manley, Frank McKenna, and Roy Romanow as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/20081130\/conservative_budget_081201\/20081201?hub=TopStories\">economic advisors<\/a>. Smart move.<\/p>\n<p>2. We also have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberpresse.ca\/actualites\/quebec-canada\/politique-canadienne\/200811\/30\/01-805897-les-quebecois-en-faveur-dune-coalition.php\">polling<\/a>! Well, from Quebec, at least.<\/p>\n<p>3. The yet-to-be-named coalition is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/LAC.20081201.POLITICS01PU\/TPStory\/National\">rumoured <\/a>to made up of a slimmed down 24 person Cabinet, with the NDP getting 6 Cabinet seats. My guess would be Layton, Mulcair, Comartin, Wasylycia-Leis, Davies, and Duncan \u2013 as speculated by <a href=\"http:\/\/calgarygrit.blogspot.com\/2008\/11\/coalition-coalescing.html#c3309979783329984332\">Island Liberal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reportedly it\u2019s a two and a half year deal, with the Bloc agreeing to support them for the first year. No word on how firm this Bloc commitment is, or what they\u2019re getting in return for their support.<\/p>\n<p>And the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/LAC.20081201.POLITICS01PU\/TPStory\/National\">same story<\/a> mentions a 30 billion dollar stimulus package, and the cancellation of those evil Exxon tax cuts you may remember from <em>every single time<\/em> Jack Layton opened his mouth last campaign. But, there are some other rumours that cutting the cuts won\u2019t be part of the deal so who knows, eh?<\/p>\n<p>4. According to Mike Duffy, Stephane Dion will lead the coalition government.<\/p>\n<p>5. Oh, and according to the Jack Layton tape, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/News\/Canada\/article\/546280\">Bill Casey might be down with the coalition<\/a>. It wouldn\u2019t at all surprise me to see him in a Cabinet spot once all is said and done.<\/p>\n<p>Not that anything would surprise me at this point.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
