I will do a quick overview of them at some point, if only to get an idea of the Quebec strategies the parties are using.<\/p>\n<p>But the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">NDP<\/span> &#8220;Bush Ad&#8221; is just so darn impressive that it&#8217;s worth taking a look at.<\/p>\n<p><object height=\"344\" width=\"425\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Nkb_GgsOD4Q&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Nkb_GgsOD4Q&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Impressions<\/strong>: And I thought the new Batman movie was dark&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ad Intent<\/strong>: Harper = Bush = scary<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Tagline<\/span><\/strong>: <em>Le <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">Pouvoir<\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">de<\/span> Changer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Things that work<\/strong>: It&#8217;s incredibly powerful with great imagery guaranteed to make you take notice and give you chills &#8211; some of the effects are almost subliminal (watch the little kid&#8217;s head explode at the 5 second mark). It attacks Harper on the issues where he&#8217;s vulnerable and there doesn&#8217;t appear to have been much of a &#8220;they&#8217;ve gone too far&#8221; backlash.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Things that don\u2019t work<\/strong>: Very little, except for the one knock I&#8217;ll mention when I grade it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soldiers in our Cities with Guns: <\/strong>The black and white, larger than life leaders, <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\">soldiers<\/span>, and tanks, gave me a strong &#8220;World War 2 Newsflash&#8221; vibe. I&#8217;m thinking that was probably intentional.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do You Like Handcuffs:<\/strong> A pair of <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\">shackled<\/span> hands appear as the image under the words &#8220;<em><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\">esclave<\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\">des<\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_8\">petrolieres<\/span><\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_9\">Clich\u00e9<\/span> Score<\/strong>: 3 (The Harper-Bush comparison is worth a point. The black and white in an attack ad is worth a point. The military imagery is worth a point.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade<\/strong>: A-<br \/>It&#8217;s an A+ ad on it&#8217;s own.
