First Impressions<\/strong>: Thank God they\u2019re back to cheesy attack ads! More than a week of warm, fuzzy, sweater vested Steve, and I might have started to like the guy.<\/p>\n

Ad Intent<\/strong>: I think this one is pretty self explanatory.<\/p>\n

Tagline<\/strong>: Let\u2019s not risk it all on Stephane Dion<\/em>. Get it? Dice! Risk! Get it?<\/p>\n

Things that work<\/strong>: The gambling metaphor gets used so often in politics, I\u2019m inclined to think it\u2019s brilliantly simple to go literal on it. (btw, as I think about it, \u201cbrilliantly simple\u201d may be the best way to describe the Harper government)<\/p>\n

Things that don\u2019t work<\/strong>: Is there anyone who seriously believes Dion will raise the GST? Maybe it will fool some people but that\u2019s a bullshit argument right up there with \u201cStephen Harper will ban abortions<\/em>\u201d if I ever heard one.<\/p>\n

Playing the Odds<\/strong>: You know, if every Canadian who has ever played scratch \u2018n win, slot machines, or craps, votes for Dion, we\u2019re probably looking at a Liberal majority.<\/p>\n

Clich\u00e9 Score<\/strong>: 1. Yeah, they\u2019re a bit cheesy, but the only clich\u00e9 point I could give it was for \u201cshrugy Dion\u201d which wouldn\u2019t even be a clich\u00e9, if not for the fact that variations on that picture have donned conservative.ca daily for the past year and a half.<\/p>\n

On the air?<\/strong> Has anyone seen these ads on TV yet?<\/p>\n

Grade<\/strong>: C+. It does what it\u2019s supposed to, but there\u2019s a certain \u201cbeen there, done that\u201d to it.<\/p>\n
