The Mayor of <a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_L6NW1UySEKs\/R_-KZTApyxI\/AAAAAAAAAZ8\/6Ql90ZHlB1s\/s1600-h\/habs.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188017462958476050\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_L6NW1UySEKs\/R_-KZTApyxI\/AAAAAAAAAZ8\/6Ql90ZHlB1s\/s200\/habs.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Montreal has demanded that local firefighters take down <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">Habs<\/span><\/span> logos painted on fire stations \u2013 by the time this one is done, this may make David Miller and Dave <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Bronconnier<\/span><\/span>\u2019s headaches over \u201csupport our troops\u201d decals seem mild by comparison. We\u2019<span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">ve<\/span><\/span> already seen the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">CP<\/span><\/span> headline \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/canadianpress.google.com\/article\/ALeqM5jVq1QIyqP0d5gSoEAsy_V6Pb0dXQ\">Montreal Mayor Defends Team Spirit<\/a>\u201d. I\u2019m sure we can expect \u201c<em>Mayor denies ties to <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\">Zdeno<\/span><\/span> Chara<\/em>\u201d, \u201c<em><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\">Protesters<\/span><\/span> demand Mayor wear jersey<\/em>\u201d, and \u201c<em>Mayor resigns amid <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\">Habs<\/span><\/span>-gate scandal<\/em>\u201d headlines in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Also in hot water is Michael <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\">Fortier<\/span><\/span>. The Senator appears to be far more forthcoming with his hockey opinions than with <a href=\"http:\/\/calgarygrit.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/well-he-did-find-witches.html\">government polling reports<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rds.ca\/canadien\/chroniques\/249566.html\">telling reporters<\/a> he believes the New York Rangers will win the Stanley Cup. Uh-oh. Certainly a valid hockey opinion, but you have to wonder how the guy ever got elected in Montreal saying things like\u2026<em>what<\/em>? Oh right.<\/p>\n<p>So, anyways, Dion hears this and decides to score some points in Quebec so he goes and chews out <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_8\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_8\">Fortier<\/span><\/span> for not having faith in the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_9\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_9\">Habs<\/span><\/span>. Unfortunately, a smart <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_10\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_10\">assed<\/span><\/span> reporter asks Dion who Montreal is playing in the first round of the playoffs and Dion hums and haws until his aid jumps in with <a href=\"http:\/\/bcinto.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/bcer-in-boston-for-bruins-and-habs.html\">the answer<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/video.aol.com\/video-detail\/patrick-stefan-empty-net-miss-vs-edmonton\/673044668\">Oops<\/a>. I guess it\u2019s not too surprising that, given his blind faith in the Liberal Quebec election readiness team, he\u2019d also have blind faith in the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_11\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_11\">Canadiens<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Harper has yet to comment on the playoffs but this time of the year is no doubt difficult for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/20061005\/harper_hockey_0610\/20061005\/\">closet Leafs fan like him<\/a>. Luckily, Jim <a href=\"http:\/\/thestar.blogs.com\/politics\/2008\/04\/another-day-at.html\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_14\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_14\">Flaherty<\/span><\/span> has jumped in<\/a> to let <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_15\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_15\">Quebecers<\/span><\/span> know that, yes, the Conservative Party\u2019s respect for Quebec goes beyond the nation resolution, and includes a love of all things <em><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_16\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_16\">bleu<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_17\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_17\">blanc<\/span><\/span> rouge<\/em>. Although it&#8217;s not mentioned in the article, I can only assume that Flaherty went on to blame Dalton <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_18\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_18\">McGuinty<\/span><\/span> for the Leafs\u2019 missing the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Also showing a lack of faith is Mario <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_19\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_19\">Dumont<\/span><\/span>, who has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/montrealgazette\/news\/story.html?id=d5084f92-ea6a-4448-90e3-e97043cc56f4&amp;k=17000\">picked the Sharks to win the Cup<\/a>. That prompted the following rebuke from Jean <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_20\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_20\">Charest<\/span><\/span>, which I can only hope (but doubt) was tongue in cheek: &#8220;<em>Mr. <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_21\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_21\">Dumont<\/span><\/span> will have to explain to <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_22\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_22\">Quebecers<\/span><\/span>. &#8230; That is unacceptable<\/em>.&#8221; No word on Pauline <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_23\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_23\">Marois<\/span><\/span>\u2019 view but one assumes she\u2019s just pissed that the team is called \u201c<span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_24\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_24\">Canadiens<\/span><\/span>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>All of this and we&#8217;re just a few games into the first round! And you just know <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/montreal\/story\/2006\/01\/17\/qc-doan20060117.html\">Denis <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_25\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_25\">Coderre<\/span><\/span><\/a> is already drafting his witness list for the inquiry into Shane <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_26\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_26\">Doan<\/span><\/span>\u2019s upcoming re-appointment as Team Canada captain.
