At least, he has ever since he traded in his Reform Party principles for a chance to become Brian Mulroney Jr.<\/p>\n<p>So it <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">shouldn<\/span>\u2019t have been a huge surprise that yesterday <strike>Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Rona Ambrose<\/strike> Jean-Pierre Blackburn <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20080402.wquebec02\/BNStory\/National\/home\">suggested<\/a> a Tory majority would lead to the Quebecois nation resolution getting some \u201cmeat around it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>What kind of meat remains to be seen, although Blackburn\u2019s mention of \u201chistorical demands\u201d invites speculation. Given the lack of pressing <i>current<\/i> demands, I guess it makes sense to look at <i>historical<\/i> ones. My personal opinion is that revisiting <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Meech<\/span> and Charlottetown is not something Canadians want or need but, then again, I don\u2019t need to win 20 seats in Quebec to get a majority government. So my opinion is probably clouded on this topic.<\/p>\n<p>Given the complete uselessness of the Bloc, this kind of talk probably will lead to Conservative gains in Quebec. However, it\u2019s also a subject the opposition leader can talk about with some authority. And given that he <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">doesn<\/span>\u2019t have a ton of friends left in Quebec to lose, it certainly <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">wouldn<\/span>\u2019t hurt to come out strongly against this.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>YUMMY MIXED METAPHOR UPDATE:<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/montrealgazette\/news\/story.html?id=b3e031de-95a9-4cbd-825c-66312b34d870&amp;k=49714\">There is no appetite for this because the fruit is not yet ripe to put more meat on the constitution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What does it say when Lawrence Cannon, of the famous &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/mrsinistergreg.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/by-his-own-words-he-condemns-himself.html\">who&#8217;s on first Quebec nation press conference<\/a>&#8220;, needs to clarify the government&#8217;s position on this?
