My favourite entry is from February 12th &#8211; I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s prime fodder for the <a href=\"http:\/\/communities.canada.com\/calgaryherald\/blogs\/firsttothepolls\/archive\/2008\/02\/15\/cliche-o-meter-round-2.aspx\">cliche-o-meter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, you have former journalist and Calgary Fish Creek candidate Laura Shutiak, who has managed to put together an <a href=\"http:\/\/campaign.laurashutiak.com\/\">entertaining blog<\/a> that sheds some light on what <a href=\"http:\/\/campaign.laurashutiak.com\/?p=4\">life on the campaign trail<\/a> is like. She always has. In fact, the mother of two grown daughters couldn&#8217;t imagine an Alberta without the Conservatives in charge. &#8220;No, and definitely not the NDP,&#8221; she said with a chuckle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><br \/><strong>Policy Watch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Liberals came out with two policies which both make practical and political sense. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/albertavotes2008\/story\/2008\/02\/15\/libs-tuition.html?ref=rss\">$1,000 off<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_L6NW1UySEKs\/R7n9FWbjcQI\/AAAAAAAAAWI\/mmTXZ45F6ks\/s1600-h\/taftpoints.jpg\"><img id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5168440315746676994\" style=\"FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_L6NW1UySEKs\/R7n9FWbjcQI\/AAAAAAAAAWI\/mmTXZ45F6ks\/s200\/taftpoints.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/albertavotes2008\/story\/2008\/02\/15\/libs-tuition.html?ref=rss\"> tuition<\/a> is something all students can relate to, while Taft&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/calgaryherald\/news\/theeditorialpage\/story.html?id=7fe43ac6-7157-4ac4-b9f5-b908f605d5e9\">cities charter<\/a>&#8221; got this response in a Herald editorial this morning:<\/p>\n<p><em>Liberal Leader Kevin Taft has skillfully positioned himself as king of the concrete jungle, with an election promise to give Edmonton and Calgary their own charters.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Raising the provocative idea of more municipal autonomy strategically shows Taft as a leader who gets the needs of Alberta&#8217;s cities, where two-thirds of the population reside.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Week Ahead<\/strong><br \/>All eyes are on the leaders debate this Thursday. This is make it or break it time for the four party leaders and might very well decide the election.
