The two men will square off in the Eastern semi. The Western quarter-finals should get rolling later today.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5100464667344984610\" style=\"DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_L6NW1UySEKs\/Rsh9l26HWiI\/AAAAAAAAAMI\/UajBp70SWbQ\/s320\/bestpremier2.gif\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first round of Canada&#8217;s Best Premier is done and the bracket has now conveniently broken itself up into a &#8220;western side&#8221; and an &#8220;eastern side&#8221;. In the West it will be Peter <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">Lougheed<\/span> against Ed <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">Schreyer<\/span> and Ernest Manning against WAC Bennett. Those votes will go live mid-week, for now, a look at the two eastern quarter-final duels. You have a man few outside of New Brunswick have ever heard of, up against a man who was Premier before anyone voting in this poll was born. And, yet, they would both make for worthy winners of this contest and managed to knock off more famous opponents in the first round. <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\">Mowat<\/span> led Ontario for 24 years near the province&#8217;s birth and helped get Wilfrid <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\">Laurier<\/span> elected on the national scene after that while <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\">Robichaud<\/span> oversaw the modernization of New Brunswick. Oh, and he&#8217;s Farley <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_10\">Mowat&#8217;s<\/span> great uncle.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/calgarygrit.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/more-voting.html\">Louis <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_11\">Robichaud<\/span> career highlights <\/a>(<em>New Brunswick 1960-70<\/em>): <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_12\">Robichaud<\/span> became Premier of New Brunswick at the age of 35.
