So I thought I&#8217;d take a moment to honour some of the best political movies from the past year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conspiracy Theory<\/strong>: Do the Liberals <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\">disapprove<\/span> of anti-terror legislation because of a fear civil liberties will be trampled upon? Not according to the maverick protagonist of this suspense thriller who believes Liberals oppose the renewal because the father in law of one of their <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\">MPs<\/span> has been called as a witness to the Air India investigation. What information does this witness have that the Liberals so desperately want to keep hidden? Does he know of a massive government fluoridation scheme which has been used to control the minds of Canadians during the  \u201cdark decade\u201d? Is Herb Grey really an alien? Stephen Harper is determined to find out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sleepless in Budapest<\/strong>: A dashing candidate lives through many sleepless nights during his Hungarian vacation, leading to an on-again\/off-again love affair with the Canadian media. You\u2019ll laugh along  during this film which begins as adventure, turns into comedy, and ends in tragedy.<br \/><strong><\/strong><br \/><strong>Failure to Launch<\/strong>: The story of Jim Dinning\u2019s leadership bid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Comedian<\/strong>: Several politicians try their hand at stand-up comedy, to <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\">varying<\/span> degrees of success. Chuckle as Peter McKay and Ralph Klein toss out their best Belinda <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\">Stronach<\/span> jokes. Cringe as John Kerry <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_4\">accidentally<\/span> implies soldiers are stupid and <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_5\">Stephane<\/span> Dion calls Stephen Harper fat. You may not find all these jokes funny but we all know Colin <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_6\">Mayes<\/span> will.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four Endorsements and a Funeral:<\/strong> A young and charismatic MP arrives in Ottawa and vows to make an impact. Over the course of four years, he endorses Jim Prentice, the <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_7\">CPC<\/span> merger, Bob Rae, and Michael <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_8\">Ignatieff<\/span>. As for the funeral? His political career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_9\">DaVinci<\/span> Code<\/strong>: Lester B. Pearson\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/20070223\/pearson_award_070223\/20070223?hub=Politics\"><span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_10\">Nobel<\/span> prize is missing<\/a>. Does the Liberal mole know the secret?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stranger than Fiction<\/strong>: 18 individuals in the Stephen Harper Cabinet find out that they are not really living their own lives; everything they say or do is being narrated to them by Stephen Harper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Grudge 2:<\/strong> Separatists and westerners revisit their hatred of the Trudeau name when Justin announces his candidacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank You for Smoking:<\/strong> This critically <span class=\"blsp-spelling-corrected\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_11\">acclaimed<\/span> movie takes a behind the scenes look at <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_12\">Barack<\/span> <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_13\">Obama&#8217;s<\/span> Presidential bid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission Impossible III:<\/strong> Stephen Harper replaces Paul Martin in the lead role as the Prime Minister searching for an elusive majority government. Floor <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_14\">crossers<\/span>, flip-flops, Quebec as a nation \u2013 nothing is over the line as Harper tries to get to the magical 155 seat total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Devil Wears <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_15\">Prada<\/span>:<\/strong> This film marks the debut of young director Peter <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_16\">MacKay<\/span>, in a screenplay he wrote about his ex-girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snake on a Plane<\/strong>: In this action adventure, Ralph Klein jets around the province of Alberta on the taxpayer&#8217;s dime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An Inconvenient Truth: <\/strong> This glorified Stephen Harper power point presentation demonstrates how there is no way Canada can possibly meet its Kyoto targets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>V for <span class=\"blsp-spelling-error\" id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_17\">Volpe<\/span>:<\/strong> Last summer&#8217;s blockbuster hit was <a href=\"http:\/\/thefroglady.blogspot.com\/2006\/07\/v-for-volpe_22.html\">described by the Frog Lady <\/a>as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Mocked by the media&#8230;<br \/>Reviled by his party&#8230;<br \/>Abandoned by his campaign manager&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The only verdict is vengeance.
